Thru Hiking

Thru hiking is about movement, efficiency, and adapting on the fly. Gear changes. Items get swapped. Weight matters.
The 10Cs don’t change—how you carry them does.
Thru hikers can substitute items, streamline systems, and make personal choices, but the underlying capabilities still need to exist. Navigation, fire, cutting, cordage, container, cover, and redundancy are what allow a long hike to continue when conditions stop being ideal.
This system isn’t about telling you what to carry.
It’s about making sure the capabilities are there, even when the plan breaks.
